“InsideOut is a company that strives to make outside living completely stress free and enjoyable despite the British climate, which we all know can prove to be rather unpredictable to say the least! This means goodbye to winter blues and hello to a happier more social winter/summer ahead”

My brief for this project was to capture the atmosphere and lifestyle benefits that their architectural projects create. We decided to plan two photo shoots – one with models to stage lifestyle images, and another to capture the beautiful architecture under complimentary lighting. The weather gods were not on our side for the lifestyle shoot, however a little bit of rain did not stop the proceedings and here are some of my favourite shots from the two photoshoot.

They were pretty stoked with the photographs and then asked me to redesign them a flyer with the new photography.

Classic Cars at West Wittering Estate

West Wittering Estate hosted their first Classic Car event a few years ago, and the Estate Manager asked me to go along and capture the day. The weather was not great and it discouraged many people from getting their cars drenched. Despite the rain and mud, the event was a success with a number of people who decided to brave the drizzle with their vintage picnic accessories. Every car was photographed and the owners were given a private link whereby to purchase/view prints.

Below are a few shots from the day – with events like this, it is impossible to avoid the rain, so my post production editing has reflected the weather (extra dark and selective some colouring!)

The Festival of Speed and Goodwood Revival are the two big events that the Goodwood Estate holds each year. Set in 12,000 acres of beautiful Sussex countryside, the Goodwood Estate is a popular locations for hosting anything from corporate events, product launches, dream weddings and private celebrations.

Chichester Canvas are a local Sussex based company that assemble all the marquees and they are then dressed to suit the party/event that are held inside. A lot of hard work and planning goes into setting the scene for the events.

Chichester Canvas specialise in traditional canvas marquees and one of the few remaining companies in the UK with the knowledge and experience to still offer these charming marquees. They are often favoured for wedding receptions and other events mainly due to their pleasing time honoured design which features a high peaked roof and beautiful sweeping lines.

Below are a of images I took to showcase the marquee interiors at the Goodwood Revival before the general public were allowed in. The Goodwood Revival is a magical step back in time, a unique chance to revel in the glamour and allure of motor racing in the romantic time capsule of the golden era of motor racing at one of the world's most authentic circuits.

Windsurfing Action Photography

Over the past few years I have compiled a great portfolio of windsurf action photography from numerous testing trips with Boards Magazine. I have a series of 10 page plus articles in the magazine for their wave sail and wave board kit testing trips to El Medano, Tenerife, across five different magazine issues. (Click on any of the images to view them larger)

Creativity and forward thinking are definitely key to such articles. Each year manufacturers come out with new kit and it is the riders and the photographer's responsibilty that each item is showcased with a new and different approach.

In each of these editions are 10 page plus equipment testing articles showcasing my work.

The surf giant HOT TUNA hits the streets with a brand new image & photography

The new e-commerce site for Hot Tuna is now officially live. Designed and custom built by the interactive design studio The Neon Hive, with all photography done by myself.

"Born on the beaches of Australia in 1969, Hot Tuna is one of the world's oldest surf-fashion brands and has grown from a single surfer's vision into a global phenomenon. From its New South Wales roots, Hot Tuna travelled across the world on the backs, bums and boards of generation after generation of cool, young wave-hunters. The piranha logo became a powerful motif and the 80's saw Hot Tuna become one of the standout labels of the decade.

Today, Hot Tuna remains a fashion lead surf wear brand, one which is globally recognised for its cool retro t-shirts, gnarly unconventional graphic prints and iconic board shorts. The piranha is still biting!"

Already all over the internet on the first day of their launch, Hot Tuna are making a big statement.

A very special wedding

I am often asked by friends to photography their weddings, and it is a great pleasure to do so. I love the atmosphere before the wedding when everybody is hurrying around and trying to make themselves look beautiful and pristine. I should really market myself as a cravat fixer, flower arranger, hair stylist, maker up artist, as well as photographer. I have photographed so many weddings now that I know the format of the day like the back of my hand. Once the technicalities are underway, I can begin to creative with my photography and start capturing stunning photographs that the couple will hold onto forever.

This wedding was a particularly special one as Alexandra and I have been friends since age 10! We share a hoard of fun memories and I felt very honoured to be able to photograph her wedding in the exact way she hoped.

A perfect countryside wedding

Nestled deep in the countryside of Kirdford is Bartholomew Barn. It is a beautiful wedding venue and the barn has been full restored providing a versatile space and stunning light for photography.

In all the weddings I have photographed I think this was the most relaxed, yet well planned and smooth wedding day. I took with me some customised props for the bride and groom to use in the photos: these add that little extra special twist to the photos whilst keeping the photographs classic and timeless.

The weather turned out to be absolutely glorious, and despite a short shower during the wedding breakfast, the blue sky continued to stay filled with picture-perfect white clouds. Cloudy weather is actually fantastic for wedding photography because they diffuse the harsh shadows from the sun and therefore create soft light for the photographs.

Site completed: Isabel Hood

Perhaps not many of you know that I also co-own a website design company: Acroweb. I work alongside Emile Kott, who is an old friend of mine. We work very well together and the work naturally splits down the middle very well. Emile does the development, coding, keywords and all the technical behind the scenes work, and I design the layouts, imagery, and photography.

We have completed a number of sites since we started, however my photoblography hasnt been live that long... here are a couple of sites we have completed for local clients:

Isabel Hood is a private freelance chef, and has written a number of cookery books. She specialises in food writing and cooking in private homes.

The new site automatically adds the new publications to the home page, and allows complete control over the slideshow gallery, the entire website wording, and extra pages.

The client approached Acroweb requesting a vivid and pictorial site to showcase her work. The website was turned around very quickly and has resulted in an exceptionally happy client!.

Previous to designing Isabel's site, she contacted me for a portrait photoshoot as she needed a set of lovely images to go into her food publications. We did a studio photoshoot, with plain backgrounds and used a couple of cookery props. Below is one image that we have used on Isabel's website. More images will be used in her forthcoming book.

A beach location wedding photoshoot..

I had been looking forward to photographing this wedding from the moment the couple booked me 18 months previous. The couple are young and vibrant and wanted their personality to show in their wedding photography.

The wedding itself was set in the idyllic village of Itchenor, and the reception followed in a beautifully kept garden with a marque and drinks tent.

After the ceremony the couple along with myself, and photography assistant slipped away to West Wittering beach to do a beach photoshoot where the couple would relax and have fun. This allowed me to work with the golden sunlight and create some fun yet natural images.

Recent Work: Neon Hive Dept.09

Last week I did some product photography for the creative brains at the Neon Hive creative agency. Below are a two of my favourite products. Unfortunately we bicycle isn't cool enough to fashion a Seletti: Bike SI-Lock but I have definatelty increased my productivity with my Action Book by Bahance.

Dept.09 is the new online design store curated by The Neon Hive studio. Jamie Hawkins rambles to boardseeker magazine..

As some of you know my other half is a very talented windsurfer and has recently started putting pen to paper and started sharing his thoughts and experiences in Boardseeker magazine.

In March this year we took a trip to Cape Town in search of wind and waves. The gods delivered and I was also blessed with some mesmerising golden light one evening..

First wedding of the year.... in South Africa

Hello!

What a fantastic start to the year with an outstandingly fine April to get us in the swing for summer and more importantly the 2011 wedding season.

At the beginning of March I travelled to South Africa to photograph a wedding at the lovely Beloftebos Wedding Venue (http://www.beloftebos.co.za/).

The venue was the most beautiful place Ive captured a wedding at yet. The attention to details from the established oak trees to the fairy-light glittering trees, was second to none.
